Two fatal collisions on Calgary streets
Two people have died in two separate collisions on Calgary streets.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at 8:15 p.m. a two vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Beddington Tr. and Beddington Blvd. N.E.
A 50-year-old man was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla eastbound along Beddington Trail N.E. The Toyota struck the front of a black Honda Pilot that was exiting northbound on Beddington Blvd.
The Toyota Corolla continued to travel eastbound, striking a traffic pole before coming to a complete stop. The driver and lone occupant of the Corolla was extracted from the vehicle and transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Honda Pilot was not injured in the collision.
The cause of the collision is still being investigated with speed and a traffic signal infraction being considered. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
On Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at approximately 2 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Bow Bottom Tr. and 146 Avenue S.E.
When they arrived on scene they found a 21-year-old deceased male pinned under a Chrysler 300.
The Chrysler was traveling southbound on Bow Bottom Tr. While attempting to make a right hand turn on 146 Avenue SE, the vehicle lost control side slipping and eventually striking the curb. The vehicle rolled over once with the 21-year-old male being ejected.
The remaining four occupants fled the scene but have since been located. A 16-year-old male and 17-year-old female sustained minor injuries. A 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were not injured.
The identity of the driver has not been determined at this time.
The CPS Traffic Section continues to investigate with alcohol and speed appearing to be factors.
No charges have been laid in either collision.
