Two charged with assault

The Calgary Police Service has charged two people in connection with an assault on a local senior.

Just after 8 p.m., on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, the victim was walking in the 1700 block of 24 Street S.W., when he got into a verbal argument with two cyclists. The incident quickly escalated and the cyclists – a man and a woman – began to assault the 66-year-old victim.

The victim sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2014, police charged two people in connection with the incident.

Benjamin REESE-TAYLOR and Shawna CONLEY, both 18, are each charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
