Suspicious person investigation

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a possible abduction attempt.

Around 9 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, an 11-year-old girl was waiting for some friends in the 800 block of Riverdale Avenue S.W. when a man following her in a van.

As she biked away, the man parked his vehicle and began to follow the girl on foot. He called out to her and asked her to come speak with him. The girl declined and the man turned back after noticing some women walking dogs in the area. She went directly to school and notified a teacher, who called police.

The man is described as Caucasian, 6’ to 6’2” tall, with a heavy build, a mole on his face and blond, shoulder-length, straight hair that was unkempt. He was wearing a black thigh length jacket with jeans and black gloves.

The vehicle is described as a black, older-model van with tinted windows, possibly a Ford Aerostar. It had rust over the wheels and scratches on the side.
