Suspicious person – UPDATE

The Calgary Police Service has concluded an investigation into reports of a suspicious person seen in the northwest last week.

Following interviews with the victim and his family, as well as neighbourhood enquiries, police are confident that no offence took place.

Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this matter.

Suspicious person

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance following reports of a suspicious person in the northwest.

At approximately 3 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, an 11-year-old boy was walking along the 0-100 block of Hidden Ranch Terrace N.W., when a man called out to him from the drivers side of a parked car.

He asked the boy if he would assist in looking for his lost dog.

The boy refused and carried on walking. The man did not get out of the car and made no attempt to reach out to the boy.

The man is described as Caucasian, with a bald head and is believed have been wearing a black muscle top. He was driving a grey four-door vehicle with a ‘crown’ sticker on the passenger door.

The Calgary Police Service encourages parents to talk to their children about ways to protect themselves. This includes staying in busy, well-lit areas and if they are suspicious of someone, trust their instincts and flee the area, or scream to draw attention to themselves.
