Suspicious Death Victim Identified

The investigation into the suspicious death of a man in downtown continues and the victim has been identified following an autopsy.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, police were called to the 700 block of 12 Avenue S.W. for reports of a disturbance in an alley. Upon arrival a man was found deceased.

Investigators believe the victim met an individual and that an altercation took place. The victim was robbed of his bag and the offender fled on foot. There is nothing to indicate this was a random attack and it is believed drugs may have played a role.

An autopsy completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has formally identified the victim as Christopher Stephen TOOLEY, 33, of Calgary. The cause of death will not be released at this time.

The medical examiner has not yet officially declared this to be a homicide but the Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
