Suspicious Death Investigation

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating a suspicious death following the discovery of a body in recycling facility just outside of the city limits.

The Service was contacted by members of the Strathmore RCMP this morning, Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, after the body of a man was discovered at the BFI Recycling Facility on Bluegrass Drive in Rocky View County.

It has been determined that waste collection taken to the facility was from within the city, therefore, the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit will take lead with the case.

The investigation will be assisted by Strathmore RCMP, Calgary Major Crimes and RCMP Forensic Identification Specialists.

This death is being treated as suspicious and no further details will be available until the completion of an autopsy scheduled for early next week.
