Stabbing Investigation

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance to identify a man believed responsible for a random stabbing attack earlier this week.

At approximately 4:40 a.m., on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, a man in his 50s was standing on the eastbound City Hall LRT platform when he was approached by an unknown man. A verbal altercation occurred and the man was stabbed. The suspect then fled eastbound towards 7 Avenue and 3 Street S.E.

The man in his 50s was transported to hospital, where he remains in serious, but stable, condition.

Investigators believe the two men were not previously known to one another, and a motive as to the assault is still unknown.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, in his 40s, approximately 5’7” tall, 200 lbs., and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark-coloured toque, green jacket, blue jeans and beige work boots. He also had a black backpack with him.
