Smash-and-Grab Robbery

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a local jewelry store.

At approximately 3:10 a.m., on Friday, March 8, 2013, police responded to Golden Jewelers Ltd., 5320 8 Ave. S.E., for reports of a vehicle that had been driven into the front of the store.

The vehicle, a stolen, white pick-up truck, was embedded into the building and two masked men ran inside and stole merchandise from the store. The suspects, who were dressed all in black and carried black duffel bags, then jumped into a waiting vehicle and fled the scene.

Significant structural damage was done to the building and as such, CPS detectives and crime scenes investigators have yet to be able to enter the store. It’s currently unknown how much merchandise was taken.

Until the building has been determined to be structurally sound, detectives will continue to interview witnesses and canvass neighbouring businesses.
