Small plane crashes in southeast Calgary

The Calgary Police Service is at the scene of a small aircraft crash in a field in southeast Calgary.

At approximately 11:40 a.m., today, Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, police were alerted to an ultralight plane experiencing engine difficulties. The plane made an emergency landing in a field near the area of Walden Common and Walden Drive S.E., coming to a rest on it's roof in the field.

The pilot, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital as a precaution. 

The investigation into the crash has been handed over to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
