Shooting Incident

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has been called out to investigate the death of a woman last night.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, police were called to the area of 16 Avenue and 19 Street N.W. for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, a car was discovered stopped in the left turn lane at 19 Street, on eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. A woman was found in the vehicle in serious, life-threatening condition. She was transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

An autopsy is expected to take place today, Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015.

At this time, there is nothing to indicate this was a random incident. Investigators believe there may have also been a man in the vehicle who may be in need of medical attention.
