Shooting incident

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a shooting in the Bowness area.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. today, Monday, July 28, 2014, police were called to a residence in the 7700 block of 41 Avenue N.W. where a man had been shot. It is believed the victim was shot outside his residence.

The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries and has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Witnesses report hearing shouting outside, prior to the shooting. It is believed the suspect is known to the victim and this was not a random incident. Investigators are following up on several leads.
