Serious injury collision

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a serious injury pedestrian collision in the northeast.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., this morning, Monday, March 30, 2015, a Hummer SUV was traveling east on Beddington Boulevard approaching Beddington Drive N.E., where a 16-year-old male was crossing the street.

The Hummer struck the pedestrian and he was knocked to the ground. While assessing the injury to the pedestrian, the Hummer was rear ended by a white Hyundai Tucson, causing the Hummer to move forward and onto the 16-year-old.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital where he remains in serious conditions.

The driver of the Hummer and the Hyundai were not injured. Charges are pending against the driver of the Hyundai, while circumstances surrounding the actions of the driver of the Hummer are still being investigated.

Alcohol and speed are not considered a factor in this collision.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating and is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Traffic office at 403-567-4000.
