Serious Injury Collision

On Sunday, June 22, 2014 at approximately 12:49 AM, a serious injury collision occurred at the intersection of 52 Street and 61 Avenue S.E.

A Honda Odyssey was southbound on 52 Street S.E. approaching 61 Avenue S.E. At this time BMW M3 convertible was eastbound on 61 Avenue S.E. approaching 52 Street S.E. The BMW ran a red light at 52 Street and drove directly into the path of the Odyssey impacting it on the driver’s side by the Honda.

Both occupants of the BMW were ejected.  The driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries. The passenger of the BMW sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries. The passenger of the Honda sustained serious injuries.  All individuals were transported for medical attention.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating the incident. Speed appears to have been a factor in the collision. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
