Seeking public assistance to identify suspects in commercial theft

The Calgary Police Service is releasing CCTV footage of a theft that occurred at a southeast Calgary business in an attempt to identify two suspects.

Just after 5 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, two males entered Action Hobby Canada Ltd., located in the 7000 block of Ogden Road S.E., and began browsing the store. The males brought two items up to the cash register and indicated they wanted to purchase the items. As the storeowner began the transaction, the males grabbed both products and ran out the front of the store.

The storeowner, his wife and a few customers chased the two men into the parking lot where a struggle ensued. The struggle resulted in the male storeowner being thrown to the ground by one of the suspects and the female storeowner being pulled over a nearby fence by the other. Both victims were injured during this incident.

Both suspects managed to get away and flee to a vehicle that was parked in the alley behind the store.  The vehicle was a newer model, silver Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The first suspect is described as 25 to 30 years old, approximately 6’ to 6’3” tall, 180 to 200 lbs., and has a slim build. He was wearing a light grey or blue sweater with a black hoodie underneath and a black Nike ball cap with the hood pulled over it. His face had pock marks on it.

The second suspect is described as having a darker complexion and being 25 to 30 years old, approximately 6’ tall and 200 to 210 lbs., with a husky build. He was wearing a black rain jacket with light-coloured patterns and a black ball cap with the jacket hood overtop.

CCTV footage of the theft from inside the store and images of one of the suspects are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
