Seeking Public Assistance: Sexual Assault

The Calgary Police Service Sex Crimes Unit is seeking public assistance following a violent sexual assault this past weekend.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, a man discovered an injured woman in the bushes near the 600 block of Memorial Drive N.E., near the Bridgeland LRT. The woman was suffering from life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital in critical condition. The victim is currently stable, but still in critical condition.

The victim, a 30-year-old woman, was discovered by the passerby who assisted the victim by calling the Calgary Police Service.

Investigators have now been able to confirm she was also the victim of a sexual assault.

Details about the sexual assault remain unclear, and detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., that evening and who may have witnessed suspicious activity to call police.

Detectives are also asking anyone who may have been in the area near the Langevin Bridge, along the nearby pathway system, towards the Calgary Zoo, to call 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
