Seeking Public Assistance - Threatening Incident

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance to identify a man sought in connection with a threatening incident.

At approximately 11 p.m., on Saturday, April 27, 2013, the victim was traveling on the CTrain from the City Hall station northeast to Saddletowne, when he was confronted by a man who was armed with a screwdriver.

The victim was sitting quietly in a seat when the offender came up to him and started uttering threats. The suspect then sat down beside the victim, swinging the screwdriver and stabbing it through the seat separating the pair.

The offender then stood up and continued to berate the victim, before moving away from the passenger as they pulled in to Marlborough station.

The suspect is described as Aboriginal, between 20 and 25 years old, 5’11” tall and approximately 175 pounds, with a medium build. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was clean-shaven. He had a fresh wound on his left cheek and was wearing a green jacket and blue jeans.

Another passenger who was on the train was able to capture a part of the incident on her cellphone. Images from the phone are available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.

Detectives have exhausted all investigative leads in identifying this suspect and are now asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information as to the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
