Seeking Public Assistance - Theft of Firearms

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance for information related to two break and enters, and the theft of handguns from a local gun range and store.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., on Sunday, May 11, 2014, a man forced entry through the main door of The Shooting Edge, 510 77 Ave. S.E. Once inside the facility, the man used a baseball bat to smash open a display case. He removed 11 handguns, placed them into a backpack and left the area on foot.

The man was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, red gloves with grey palms and white shoes. Photos of the man are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

At approximately 8 a.m., on Monday, May 26, 2014, officers were called to, for reports of a break and enter. Upon arrival, officers observed the front window of the store had been smashed and weapons had been taken.

Investigators currently believe more than 20 firearms were taken, however this number may increase once a full inventory has been completed. The investigation continues to determine if the two offences are connected, and if a suspect description from today’s offence can be obtained from reviewing CCTV.
