Seeking Public Assistance - Suspicious Incident

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance following a suspicious incident that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 5 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, police were called to a business in the 5100 block of 17 Avenue S.E., for a report of a man and woman involved in a physical altercation.

During the incident, it appeared to a witness as though the man was attempting to push the woman into a parked vehicle. The woman stayed in the vehicle for a short time before getting out and running from the area, however, the man followed her in his vehicle and made another attempt to force the woman into the vehicle.

The woman was able to break free, run away and then disappeared from the witnesses’ view.

It’s unknown if the man approached the woman again following the second encounter. The woman in this case has not come forward to police to file a report, and it remains unknown what is the relationship between the pair.

Investigators would like to speak with both the man and woman involved in this incident in order to determine what actually occurred and to ensure all parties are safe.

Police were able to obtain surveillance video from the area and would like to speak with the man in the pictures. These photographs are available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.
