Seeking Public Assistance - Luring

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a report of a man who attempted to lure a teenager into his car.

 

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, just after 8 a.m., a 17-year-old girl was walking along Abadan Crescent N.E. towards Abbotsford Drive to catch the school bus.  She noticed a vehicle parked on the side of the road, and a man sitting inside the car. The teen began to feel uncomfortable and crossed the road.  At that point, the man got out of the vehicle and began cleaning his side mirrors while calling to her, asking her where she was going.

 

The teen quickened her pace. The man got back into his vehicle and followed her a short distance to the bus stop, shouting at her.

 

When he noticed she’d missed her bus while trying to avoid him, the man told her to get in his car. She said no, ran to a convenience store and called a friend to come pick her up. Once they got to school she reported the incident to the administration, who informed the School Resource Officer.

 

The man is described as being of Middle Eastern desent, approximately 35 years old, under 6’ tall, roughly 180 lbs., with short hair and dark eyes. He was clean shaven and wearing a sweater with a Christmas design and jeans.

 

The vehicle is described as a very clean, newer model, small, white four-door hatchback.
