Second man charged in September homicide

A second man has been charged in the death of a man in Forest Lawn in September.

At approximately 5:55 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, police were called to check on the welfare of a man in the 2600 block of 43 Street S.E. Upon arrival, a man was found deceased.

Following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the victim was identified as Jonathan Joe SCHMEIKAL, 34, of Calgary. He died as a result of a shooting.

Investigators believe that prior to his death, SCHMEIKAL was being driven around in a stolen vehicle by more than one individual, and that the shooting may have been drug related.

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, Jerry Cody GOODEAGLE, 25, of Gleichen, Alta., was charged with second-degree murder.

The investigation by the CPS Homicide Unit continued, and as a result, Dyson WHITE, 37, of Calgary, has also been charged with second degree murder. He will next appear in court on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2015.
