Second Man Charged in Connection with AHMED Homicide

A second man wanted in connection with the murder of Maqsood AHMED has been arrested.

Jean Bertrand HAVYARIMANA, 19, of no fixed address in Calgary, turned himself in to police on Monday, July 13, 2015. He was formally charged overnight with robbery and second-degree murder.

A third man, who is currently in custody on unrelated charges, will be charged tomorrow with robbery, accessory after the fact to robbery, and accessory after the fact to murder. His name will be released after he is formally charged.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, AHMED and a female co-worker were closing up a business in the 4700 block of Westwinds Drive N.E. AHMED was leaving on foot with cash and receipts when he was approached and attacked by two men. He was robbed of his cash and stabbed.

AHMED, 55, was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The woman, an employee of the company was uninjured.

A second man was previously charged in connection with the murder. Lloyd KOLLIE, 19, is also charged with robbery and second-degree murder.

This investigation is ongoing.
