Police trying to locate witness with information on sexual assault

The Calgary Police Service Sex Crimes Unit is trying to find a good Samaritan that may have information that could help with a sexual assault investigation.

Sometime during the evening of Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, a woman was driven out to the southern edge of the city, and sexually assaulted. Following the assault, she was left at the location by herself.

The victim then flagged down a passing driver, who picked her up and drove her to a Winks convenience store located in south Calgary so she could call for help.

Police would like to speak to the driver that drove her back into Calgary. This individual is a witness, not a suspect, and police believe he will be able to provide information that is critical to the investigation.

The driver that brought the woman back into the city is described as Caucasian, with brown hair and a thin beard. He was wearing a white or grey shirt, glasses, orange shorts and brown shoes.

This incident is currently under investigation, and at this time it is not known if it was random.

There is no further information available at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the witness is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers using any of the following methods:
