Police seize $270,000 worth of drugs and weapons

Six people have been charged, and over $270,000 worth of drugs and six illegal firearms have been seized following a three-month long investigation into a drug trafficking operation in Calgary.

Early on March 4, 2015, officers from the Calgary Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Unit and Tactical Unit executed search warrants on five residences and seven vehicles in the communities of Temple, Kingsland, MacEwan and the Beltline. Drugs, cash, multiple types of ammunition and a weapon were found during the search, as well as a key for a storage locker. Police later searched the storage locker and found multiple weapons and more ammunition.

Five of the six people were taken into custody during the execution of the search warrants. The other individual was arrested by the RCMP near Innisfail, Alberta, while heading north on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway shortly before the Calgary Police Service began their operation within Calgary.

In total, police have seized:

  • 309.1 grams of cocaine
  • 45.7 grams of heroin
  • 578.1 grams of methamphetamine
  • 27.1 grams of MDMA (commonly called ecstasy)
  • 150.4 grams of cannabis oil
  • 320 grams of cannabis resin
  • 110 pills of OxyContin
  • 16.9 grams of marihuana
  • 2,551 pills of Fentanyl
  • Three semi-automatic rifles
  • Two handguns
  • One pump-action shotgun
  • Multiple rounds of ammunition for all six firearms

Police also found over $16,000 in Canadian currency and $1,800 in counterfeit US currency.

Hafiz Allan MOHAMMED, 28, of Calgary, has been charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and six firearm offences.

Tyler Steven PRICE, 30, of Calgary has been charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

Sean William KISS, 33, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

Sandra Johanna WOLOSHYN, 33, of Calgary, has been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of ammunition.

Steven John HURD, 30, of Calgary, and Christie-Lee HARRIS, 29, of Calgary, have been co-accused and both charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of proceeds of crime and one count of possession of counterfeit currency.

The investigation is still ongoing and further charges may be laid.
