Police lay charges in Market Mall carjacking

The Calgary Police Service has now officially laid charges against a man in relation to a carjacking that took place at Market Mall.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, a woman was in her vehicle in the parking lot of Market Mall when she was approached by an unknown male. The man opened the driver's side door, pointed a gun at the woman and ordered her out of the vehicle.

The male fled the scene in the victim's silver 2003 Chevrolet Venture van, which held the victim’s purse and identification. A stolen red Ford Taurus car, believed to be working in tandem with the offender, fled the scene as well. No one was injured during the incident.

In addition to the charges announced yesterday, Ryan John WILSON, 36, of Calgary, is charged with robbery, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and carrying a concealed weapon.

WILSON is scheduled to next appear in court on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015.
