Police investigating two collisions involving pedestrians

The Calgary Police Service is investigating two collisions that occurred late yesterday.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, a 27-year-old woman was crossing in a crosswalk at the intersection of Bannister Road and Midlake Boulevard S.E.  A driver turning onto eastbound Midlake Boulevard struck her and sped away from the scene.

The victim was transported to hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition.

Police are still looking for the vehicle that fled the scene. It is described as dark-coloured pick-up truck that will likely have noticeable damage to the front of the vehicle on the passenger side.

Two hours later, at approximately 7:30 p.m., another pedestrian was struck in an unrelated collision in the 2500 block of 32 Street N.E. Another 27-year-old woman was crossing in a crosswalk when she was struck by a 59-year-old man driving a GMC Sierra Truck.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in this collision, and charges are pending.

Investigations into both collisions are still ongoing and anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact the Traffic Section at 403-567-4000, or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
