Police investigating animal cruelty in northeast Calgary

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a suspicious animal death after a deceased dog was found in the backyard of a residence.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., on Monday, March 23, 2015, police were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Richland Road N.E. after a resident discovered their dog deceased and buried in their backyard. Through a cooperative investigation with the Calgary Humane Society and City of Calgary Animal & Bylaw Services, it has been determined that the dog’s death is suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing, however police believe the incident was not random and therefore do not believe any other animals in the community are in danger.
