Police Investigate Overnight Shooting Incident

Calgary police continue to investigate a shooting incident that took place in the downtown core last night.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, Saturday, June 29, 2013, police were called to the 800 to 900 block of 8 Ave. S.W., in response to citizen reports of hearing shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. Upon arrival at hospital, one of the victims was declared deceased; the other remains in life-threatening condition. Both victims are believed to be in their mid-twenties.

The Homicide Unit has been called in to investigate.

As it very early in the investigation, details at this point in time are very limited.
