Police Investigate Fatal Collision

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating a fatal collision in the northwest.

At approximately 6:55 a.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, emergency crews responded to reports of a pedestrian that had been hit by as many as two vehicles at the intersection of Sandstone Drive and Berkshire Boulevard N.W. Both vehicles left the scene.

The pedestrian that was struck died at the scene. The Traffic Reconstruction Unit is currently at the location and is expected to remain there for several hours.

Investigators are looking for the two vehicles involved in the collision. According to witnesses, the vehicles are as follows:

Ford Taurus, red in colour, with front-end damage
Late-model, four-door Oldsmobile, brown in colour, with damage to the lower part of the front bumper

Investigators are working to confirm whether a vehicle located shortly after the collision is involved. The driver is currently being questioned.
