Police charge man in stabbing at Stampede Grounds

The Calgary Police Service has laid charges in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Stampede Grounds earlier this week.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., on Thursday, July 9, 2015, police were alerted to a fight involving several individuals on the Stampede Midway. Two individuals were found with stab wounds. One was taken to Foothills Medical Centre in critical condition and the other was taken to Rockyview Hospital where they were treated and released.

Following a foot chase leading off Stampede Grounds,  a third person was found with stab wounds and was also taken to hospital. 

While the investigation is still ongoing, the third individual found wounded is believed to be responsible for stabbing the individual that remains in critical condition and police have laid charges.

Rinato TOY, 20, of Calgary, is charged with one count of aggravated  assault, one count of obstruction of justice and two counts of breaching a court order. 

TOY is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, July 16, 2015.
