Police charge man in Anthony Fernandez homicide

The Calgary Police Service has charged one man in connection with the 2013 homicide of Anthony James FERNANDEZ.

Police found FERNANDEZ deceased in a vehicle at approximately 3 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in the 1200 block of Colgrove Avenue N.E. The autopsy revealed that he had died in the early hours of Christmas Day and that his death was a homicide.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, police took two suspects into custody in connection with the investigation, and have now charged Terry WINGERT, 46, of no fixed address, with second degree murder.

WINGERT is scheduled to appear in court today.

The second individual was released from police custody early this morning, but remains a strong person of interest in the case. The investigation is ongoing, but police are not looking for any other suspects at this point.

On Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, police released new details of the homicide and a photo of the vehicle FERNANDEZ was found in, in the hope that it would help others who may have information come forward.  Police are still asking people with information about the case to contact investigators.
