Man Charged in Auto Theft
The Calgary Police Service has laid more than 100 charges against a man in relation to vehicle theft and stolen property offences.
On Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, a man was observed traveling in a stolen vehicle. Utilizing a number of resources, including the CPS Tactical Unit and HAWCS, the man was taken into custody.
Three search warrants were executed in the communities of Marlborough Park and Forest Heights on residences associated to the man in the stolen vehicle. Investigators located and seized hundreds of items believed to have been stolen during rural break and enters from areas around Strathmore and Okotoks.
The CPS continues to work with local RCMP detachments to identify victims in order to return the property back to the rightful owners. Anyone who believes their property may be involved should contact their local RCMP detachment with a detailed list of property that was stolen.
Nicholas Konrad KIRSZENSTEIN, 29, of Calgary, faces more than 100 charges related to vehicle theft and stolen property including:
- Two counts of assaulting a peace officer relating to a previous incident
- Three counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000 - relating to Ford trucks
- One count of possessing body armour without a permit
- 31 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- 31 counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order
- 31 counts of possession of a weapon obtained by crime
- One count of possession of a prohibited weapon
The investigation continues and further charges are pending.
KIRSZENSTEIN remains in custody and will appear next inn court Thursday, March. 13, 2014.
