Pedestrian falls from overpass

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a fatal collision involving a pedestrian.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, a 2010 Mazda A3 was traveling northbound in the 5400 block of Crowchild Trail S.W.

A 51-year-old female pedestrian fell from the pedestrian overpass above Crowchild Trail just south of 54 Avenue, first landing on the roof of the Mazda and then the roadway.

Upon realizing what happened, the driver of the Mazda, a 36-year-old male, exited Crowchild Trail at the 50 Avenue interchange, called 911 and waited for police arrival.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Mazda was not injured. 

Speed or alcohol are not considered to be factors.
