Ongoing Homicide Investigation - Update #3

Following autopsies completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the following are identified as the victims of Tuesday’s homicide in Brentwood:

• Joshua Barclay HUNTER, 23
• Kaitlin Ashley PERRAS, 23
• Jordan Gabriel SEGURA, 22
• Lawrence Martin HONG, 27
• Zackariah James RATHWELL, 21

Members of the Service’s Forensic Crime Scene Unit continue to collect evidence at the scene of the homicide on Butler Crescent N.W., and there is a potential their work at the home may continue until at least Saturday, April 19, 2014.

The accused in this case, Matthew de Grood, will remain in Calgary Remand Centre pending his next court appearance on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

Although investigative details available to the public are limited at this point, A/Insp. Ryan Ayliffe will be available to speak to the media at 11:30 a.m. today, Thursday, April 17, 2014, to reiterate this release. This availability will take place at CPS Headquarters, Westwinds Campus Media Centre, located at 5111 47 Street N.E.
