One-Year Anniversary - Woolfsmith Death

It’s been one year since the death of a toddler who was critically injured following an incident at a local private dayhome.

Mackenzy WOOLFSMITH, 21 months, died the day after suffering serious injuries at the dayhome in the 0-100 block of Elgin Heath S.E., on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

Due to the nature of her injuries, the investigation was taken over by the CPS Major Crimes Section. Based on new medical evidence and the lack of co-operation from the individual with exclusive opportunity to Mackenzy, this is now a Homicide Unit investigation.

Investigators have serious concerns following the medical findings and the suspicious circumstances around Mackenzy’s death. Detectives are currently re-interviewing witnesses and neighbours as part of the Homicide Unit investigation.
