One man dead following shooting

One man has died and one is currently in custody following a shooting that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., on Sunday, Feb 22, 2015, police were called to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of Edmonton Trail N.E.

A man was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Several police units, including HAWC, flooded the area following the shooting. A man fitting the description of the suspect was spotted several blocks away by the flight crew onboard HAWC, who then directed ground units to make an arrest.

The suspect, a man in his 20s, is currently in custody and will be interviewed by detectives.

Several witnesses are also being interviewed, however, police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of the shooting and witnessed anything suspicious.

Although police are still investigating, there is nothing to indicate that this was a random attack.
