One man charged in commercial robberies

The Calgary Police Service has charged one man in relation to two commercial robberies that occurred on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.

At approximately 9:25 p.m., a man entered the Shoppers Drug Mart located in the 2500 block of Woodview Drive S.W., where he gave an employee a note demanding money. He indicated that he had a weapon, and made off with an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the store.

Approximately 10 minutes later, it is believed the same man entered the Little Caesars located in the 1900 block of Southland Drive S.W. He produced a similar note and fled the premise with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Following an investigation by the Centralized General Investigation Section, Michael Jeffrey DANIEL, 30, of Calgary, was arrested on Thursday, July 16, 2015. DANIEL is charged with:

  • Two counts of robbery with a firearm
  • Two counts of wearing a disguise to commit an indictable offence
  • Two counts of breach of a recognizance
  • One count of assault
