One man charged in bank robbery

The Calgary Police Service Robbery Unit has charged one man in relation to a bank robbery that occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015.

At approximately 1 p.m., an unknown man entered the RBC Royal Bank, located in the 3900 block of Richmond Road S.W. While inside, he approached a teller and produced a robbery note demanding money. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank in an unknown direction.

No one was injured during the robbery.

On Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, detectives identified a suspect and arrested him without incident. Boutros AL-RUBAYI, 20, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of robbery along with an additional charge on an unrelated warrant. He is scheduled to appear in court today, Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.
