Officer-involved shooting

The Alberta Serious Incident Response TEAM (ASIRT) has been called in following a Calgary Police Service officer-involved shooting.

On Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at approximately 9:15 p.m, officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the 1400 block of Copperfield Blvd. S.E. At some point they were alerted to a suspicious vehicle in the same area. The vehicle came to a stop on Deerfoot Trail and McKenzie Lake Blvd. S.E.

As officers approached the vehicle, an incident occurred resulting in a Service firearm being discharged.

One man died on scene and a woman was taken to hospital in critical condition.

No officers were injured.

At this point, the investigation is in its initial stages and details are limited.
