Offender Identified in Recent Groping Incident

The Calgary Police Service has identified the offender in a recent groping incident at the University of Calgary.

The offender, who was spoken to by officers last week, has mental health and behavioural issues that detectives believe led to his approaching females on campus.

The encounters were mostly verbal, however, on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, an 18-year-old woman was forcibly hugged by the man against her will.

After speaking with the man and his social worker, it has been determined that criminal charges would not serve the public interest in this case and a plan for increased supervision by his caregivers has been devised.

The Service would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in helping to identify the offender.
