Man Wanted on Warrants

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance to locate a man wanted in relation to a stabbing that occurred earlier in January.

On Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at approximately 6:15 p.m., a man in his 30s was in the area of 17 Avenue and 37 Street S.W., when he was approached by three men. He attempted to leave the area, but was followed and cornered by the men. One of the men stabbed the victim, at which time he fled the area and sought help at the CPS District 2 office. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

It is believed this was a random incident.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Gary John CONTOIS, 21, of Calgary.

CONTOIS is wanted for one count of aggravated assault, and two breaches of recognizance.

He is described as Aboriginal, 5’10” tall, 180 lbs., with black hair and a medium build.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, a man was arrested and later charged in relation to this case, and two other incidents that also occurred that evening.

Dayna Lawrence NONAME, 25, of Calgary, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault.

The investigation continues.
