Man Charged with Harassment

The Calgary Police Service has charged a local man in connection with an investigation into harassment and stalking that impacted several members of a southeast community.

In June 2013, the Service received a complaint from a man and his daughter, who alleged she was the victim of harassing literature being distributed throughout his street and via general mail.

In 2011, the victim claims she started receiving harassing messages via an unknown online account. This later escalated to flyers being distributed in her neighbourhood.

The literature, which was graphic in nature, made serious allegations about the victim and included pornographic images. Over a several-week period, hundreds of flyers with the offensive material would be strewn about the Southview street, as well as delivered to neighbouring houses.

The flyers had the victim’s name, address and phone number listed, which caused additional harassment to her family. Due to the content of the flyers, the victim was solicited multiple times for sexual encounters.

On Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, police arrested Anthony Victor HILTON, 61, of Calgary. HILTON is charged with two counts of criminal harassment/stalking and one count of utter, convey, cause threat to a person.

HILTON is known to the victim. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2014.
