Man Charged in Suspicious Death

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in relation to a suspicious death that occurred yesterday.

Around 7:20 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2013, police were called to the 200 block of Templegreen Drive N.E. where a woman was discovered deceased.

It is believed the woman and her husband were travelling in a vehicle when an argument broke out. The woman attempted to leave the vehicle as it was moving and became entangled in the seatbelt, and was subsequently dragged a significant distance before the vehicle came to a stop.

The woman then ran to a nearby residence, but the man caught up to her and an altercation took place. The man then left the area and went to a nearby hospital, at which point police were notified.

The husband of the deceased, Gagandeep SIDHU, 30, of Calgary, has been charged with first-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

An autopsy to confirm the victim's identity, as well as the manner and cause of death, is scheduled for Monday, April 1, 2013.

Police continue to try to notify the next of kin of the deceased but are having some difficulty given they do not reside in Calgary. Police are asking anyone who may know how to reach the family of the deceased to contact police.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area early this morning is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
