Man Charged in Guns & Gangs Operation

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man with multiple drug and weapons-related offences following an operation by the Guns and Gangs Unit.

In November 2013, officers began investigating a drug trafficking network. On Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, along with officers from District 2, officers executed a warrant on a home in the 4700 block of 17 Avenue N.W.

During a search of the residence, police seized drug paraphernalia, and various amounts of marijuana, cocaine, Oxycodone, MDMA and cannabis resin. A Walther 9-mm semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, pepper spray and a machete were also seized.

One man who was in the residence at the time was taken into custody without incident.

Melville Lloyd KINGSTON, 32, of Calgary, has been charged with 10 drug and weapons-related offences.

KINGSTON is next scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015.
