Man charged in 2005 homicide

The Calgary Police Service has charged one man in relation to the death of a two-year-old boy.

At approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2005, police were called to a residence in the 4500 block of 7 Ave S.E. Officers were told EMS was responding to a call at a residence where a child was in medical distress.

The child, Blake HARVEY was taken to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, December 8, 2005.

At the time it was determined that HARVEY’s injuries were not consistent with a fall down the stairs, as stated by the caregiver who was at the home. An autopsy confirmed his death was a homicide.

Ryan John PODHORODECKI, 32, of Kelowna, British Columbia, is charged with manslaughter.

He was arrested yesterday, Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, in Victoria, British Columbia and has since been transferred to Calgary.
