Man charged in 15th homicide of the year
The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has charged a man in relation to the murder of a Calgary man in July.
At approximately 9:20 p.m., on Friday, July 3, 2015, a confrontation occurred between two men in the 100 block of 10 Avenue S.E. that left one man in serious condition.
The victim, a 44-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he remained in a coma until Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, when the decision was made to remove him from life support. He died on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015.
Following an autopsy on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, the victim was formally identified as Mustafe Mohamud HUSSEIN, of Calgary. Cause of death will not be released at this time.
As the result of an investigation by District 1 and the Homicide Unit, Fuad Yasir ALI, 28, of Calgary, was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, and has been charged with second-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015.
This is the 15th homicide of 2015.
