Man Charged Following New Year’s Eve Shooting

The Calgary Police Service has arrested a man in connection with a shooting that occurred on New Year’s Eve.

At approximately 10 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, emergency services were called to reports of a man being shot outside an address in the 400 block of Athlone Road S.E. The 33-year-old victim was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Prior to the shooting, investigators believe the victim was communicating with the suspect via text messaging and had arranged to meet him outside where he was shot with a shotgun.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, a 19-year-old man from Calgary was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Chayce Anthony KRAUSE has now been charged with attempted murder.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

This is not considered to be a random attack and is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement.
