Life-threatening collision - 14 Street and 21 Avenue N.W.

On Sunday, September 1, 2013, at approximately 7:23 PM, a collision occurred at the intersection of 14 Street and 21 Avenue N.W. that resulted in life-threatening injuries.

 

A 2008 Toyota Tundra driven by a 30 year old male was northbound in the left-hand lane of 14 Street N.W. approaching the intersection of 21 Avenue N.W. A 2005 Dodge SX 2.0 driven by a 49 year old female was westbound on 21 Avenue N.W. approaching 14 Street N.W. The Dodge advanced across 14 Street against a stop sign and encroached into the path of the Toyota. The Toyota “T-Boned” the Dodge on its driver’s side door. Both vehicles rotated counter clockwise towards the northwest corner of the intersection. The Dodge came to rest approximately 28.50 meters northwest of the area of impact. The Toyota came to rest approximately 21.50 meters northwest of the area of impact.

 

The driver of the Dodge sustained life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Dodge sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Toyota was not injured.

 

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating the incident. Neither alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in the collision.
