Incident in Northwest Calgary

The Calgary Police Service is investigating an incident involving two girls in the community of Sandstone Valley.

It was reported that on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at approximately 4:15 p.m., two girls, ages nine and ten, were walking eastbound in the 300 block of Sandstone Dr. N.W., when a man approached from behind, attempting to grab one of them. The girls were able to run away from the man, while the suspect is believed to have fled on foot, possibly westbound on Sandstone Drive N.W.

The parents of one of the girls called 911. Officers responded, searching the area and conducting neighbourhood inquiries.

The suspect was not located. He is described as 5’8” to 6’ tall, approximately 220 lbs., wearing dark clothing, including a black toque and black scarf covering his face.

The CPS continues to investigate, in order to determine the identity of the suspect and circumstances and motive behind the incident.
