Homicide Victim Identified

An autopsy has been completed and the identity of Calgary’s 24^th homicide victim of 2014 has been confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, police were called to a parking lot in the 6200 block of Bowness Road N.W., for reports of a man in medical distress. The 38-year-old man was transported to hospital where he was subsequently declared deceased.

The victim has been identified as John MACIVER, 38 , of Calgary. He died as the result of a stabbing.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder and will next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. Under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his name cannot be released.
