Homicide Victim Identified

An autopsy has been completed and the identity of Calgary’s 24th homicide victim of 2014 has been confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, police were called to a parking lot in the 6200 block of Bowness Road N.W., for reports of a man in medical distress. The 38-year-old man was transported to hospital where he was subsequently declared deceased.

The victim has been identified as John MACIVER, 38 , of Calgary. He died as the result of a stabbing.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder and will next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. Under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his name cannot be released.
