Homicide Update - Additional Photo Released

The Calgary Police Service continues to seek public assistance in connection with a recent homicide in Monterey Park. Tonight, investigators are able to release additional details and a photo of a vehicle connected to the fatal shooting.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, police responded to reports of a shooting in an alley in the 100 block of Del Ray Road N.E. When they arrived they found a man, Hussein MERHI, 26, in medical distress. He died at the scene.

Investigators believe MERHI met up with at least one person in the alley, and at some point during the meeting an altercation occurred and the victim was killed.

A dark SUV was seen fleeing the area after the shooting. Detectives believe the vehicle is possibly a 2000 to 2006 Ford Escape or similar type SUV. A photo of the vehicle believed involved in the homicide is now available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.

There is no indication this homicide is linked to any others in the city.
